First, understand that the system will not allow you to upload an image that is larger than 100 kbytes or 100 x 100 pixels.  So the key task is to export a digital image that is appropriately sized.  You do this using whatever software you use to manage your digital images on your computer.  Directions for a few common photo editing tools are below.

If you don’t already have a preferred photo editing tool and use Windows, I recommend that you download Google’s free product called Picasa.  Click here to download Google Picasa.

The directions below assume that you have selected your desired image in the software and are ready to begin resizing and exporting it for use on Covenant.

In Google Picasa:
1. File
2. Export Picture to Folder
3. Name the folder you want Google to put the results in
4. Select “Resize to:” and set the value to “100” pixels
5. Select “Image Quality” to minimum
6. Select “Export”
7.  Notice the path to the folder to which you are exporting.
8.  Login to Covenant.
9. Click here to upload your avatar.
10. Click here to upload your photo.

In Apple’s iPhoto:

1. File
2. Export
3. File Export tab
4. Select size = custom
5. Select width
6. Set max width = 100 pixels.
7. Click Export
8.  Notice the path to the folder to which you are exporting.
9.  Login to Covenant.
10. Click here to upload your avatar.
11. Click here to upload your photo.

That’s all there is to it!
